Some urban "artist" must have devoted a lot of time to this painting on the side of a Union Pacific Freight Car. Shot in yard at Nampa Idaho, Nikon F4s, Tokina 80-200 f2.8 lens. Fuji 400 film.

I think it would be a fun project to photograph these types of things and create a photo essay. I'm currently beginning a similar project on murals. It will take a while before I get enough worth doing anything with, but have a few I've put on my site. Here's a link: www.geocities.com/stevegrob/murals.htmlSteve

Wayne, having worked for Norfolk Southern, I've been told the NS spends about $250,000.00 a year removing this art. I once spent a couple hours trying to find a freight car in a 2 mile long RR Yard that had the numbers painted over with art. I do find some of it interesting though.

The shame is some of the people who do this obviously have a great deal of artistic talent. Too bad they can use it in a more productive manner--or maybe someone needs to create that opportunity. Of course if it was approved it probably wouldn't be as much fun:)
