At our local care home annual garden fete we had a flypast by the Battle of Britain Flight Avro Lancaster. I managed to snatch these two pictures.

Very nice Rachel, did you know it was on the way, or did you happen to have your camera with you? What camera did you use?

Good job. Rachel! The Lancaster is a legendary aircraft. Glad to see there is at least one still flying.

Thanks All for the nice comments.
Yes, sorry I didn't include the tech details. John you are correct in that I used my new digital EOS.
Details for both pictures is
Camera Model : Canon EOS 350D DIGITAL Date/Time : 2006:06:10 13:39:53 Exposure Time : 1/400 sec F Number : 14.0 ISO Speed : 400 Focal Length : 55.0 mm
I always take a camera to these events but I didn't know that the Lancaster was appearing so only took the standard zoom lens 18mm-55mm. It came in low over the trees so I was not certain where it was going to appear and, of course, I had to pan the shot.
I have seen it before but not so close. You can't beat seeing these big planes in person. Two other aircraft I'd love to see flying are the De Haviland Mosquito and the Short Sunderland flying boat. I've seen them in museums but never flying.

Excellent Lancaster shot Rachel. I love the old plane photos but you seldom see them anymore. Just had the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in town for a show last week but as usual I missed them.

About 10 years ago I flew 150 miles in the nose of a fully restored B-17. Unforgetable!

Excellent shots Rachel. We have a complete Lancaster in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. It is the G For George. ONe of my neighbours worked on the Catalina flying boats during WWII.

Rachel
Good catch. The sight and sound of the Lancaster is something else. Great aircraft.
John
The other flying Lanc belongs to the Canadian Warplane Heritage located at Hamilton Ontario just west of Toronto. The museum at the Hamilton Mt Hope airport is well worth the seeing for anyone visiting in the area.

Bob
There's a post of mine on Page 3 of the Trains, Planes and Automobiles section called "Another Proud Moment". Check it out for the Toronto Lanc!

John Nice photos and your dad sure looks happy. I am very glad they gave him a good tour. We are talking the same Lanc though. www.warplane.com/pages/aboutus_location.html . I don't know if the link will work. In any event Hamilton and Toronto have basically grown into one another so it is hard to tell where one ends and the other starts. Wherever a flying Lanc is it is well worth tracking it down. The best. Bob Hammond
