As we're on the topic of aircraft: We had the good fortune of visiting the Evergreen Aviation Museum in Oregon which is only a short drive from where we now live. The "Spruce Goose" is of course the nickname of the HK-1 Hercules built by the Hughes Kaiser Corporation. It's an awsome sight to see. Heres some shots I "captured" of it last year. Nikon D70 w/35-70 ED lens In the 3rd shot, notice the two people walking on the sidewalk (bottom left) to give an idea as to just how big the building and the plane is Here's thier website if interested; www.sprucegoose.org/aircraft_artifacts/exhibits.html

Now THAT'S an airplane!! Howard Hughes was a genius but the Spruce Goose was just too far ahead of it's time and badly under powered.
Very nice images.

The Spruce Goose has been on my want to see list for along time now. A very interesting one of a kind. What is hiding under the wing in the top picture, an SR71?

I seem to remember reading that Howard Hughes once designed a bra for Jane Russell. I think it was around that time that he lost his sense of proportion!!

Regards - John John, are you saying that Howard stopped designing airplanes and began designing hangers? I suppose he was just trying to keep abreast of things. I think Howard was trying to say Size Matters...he was after all from Texas.
