My sister and brother-in-law took a cross country bike trip from their home in California to our hometown in Pennsylvania, and back to California. Arrived there just in time to get caught up in all the power outages. They stopped for a couple days to see Jeanneatte and me on the way back west. This is a pic of them as they were ready to pull out off Kalamazoo. They ride a smooth Yamaha Classic which they have fancied up with better-riding seats and lots of chrome. To me it looks as good as any Harley I've seen. Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI

Ron, what an impressive rig! That's quite a trip, right across the US and back. Do they tend to avoid the interstates and use quieter, more scenic roads? I believe I would. What a way to see America! Kudos to your sister and brother-in-law!

I have a friend locally who collected Russian cameras but gave it up to restore Honda Gold Wings (and I got his FSU gear!). The Gold Wings are awesome travel machines, too but I wouldn't want one to tip over on me. Haven't been much of a bike fan since a Maco slide out from under me and the driver while we were going round a corner at about 40 mph. I was about 16 at the time and for a second didn't think I would see 17!

That's a long trip in the same saddle. I sold my 1959 Harley Davidson FLHC in 1977.

Gene,
Finally getting around to your question.
They were gone a month on this journey. Bill is retired and Kathy is a school teacher so had the summer off.
As much as possible they kept off the interstates and travelled where the scenery and sites could actually be seen and appreciated. Stopped often to visit places...only had a small digital P&S but they hope they got some memorable photos.
Randy,
They both said that the new seats they put on prior to the trip were actually quite well padded and comfortable...you just can't really stretch out though.
They only item they missed was not having a helmet-to-helmet intercom...Kathy would to bang on Bill's shoulder and then try to shout over the noise.
