I enjoy going to the local model air show. I shot this one basically standing on it's tail using the propeller to stay up. Interesting display of flying. The wingspan on this one would be roughly 6 feet so it is not small.

That's great, RC Planes is another hobby I would pursue if I didn't have a bunch of hobbies right now.

Six feet!
Wow, that's a big RC!
I have a nephew who is into those...goes to the big air show in Oshkosh every year. Used to enter his planes in competitions, but I'm not sure he does anymore.
He had one he flew (maiden voyage) at his grandfather's farm (my father-in-law) a couple years ago. Wingspan on that was only about four feet, and I thought it looked huge!
Unfortunately, it did not navigate a turn at the far side of the fields as well as hoped, and he is still picking up pieces that fall out of the tree it hit!
Neat picture...I thought it was real (meaning big enough to ride in) at first! ;D

Neat thing about well done RC planes is that you would swear that they are real when you have nothing to judge the scale by. I would have thought it was a Pitts Special or something at an airshow if you had not said it was an RC plane. Crisp capture.

Knew it had to be RC as could not in anyway see guide lines, like we had back in my childhood.
Mentioned in another thread that the local hobby shop built a model of a B22 bomber and would fly it...actually only one at the store was allowed to fly it. I had tried to recall the wingspan and indicated 6 feet, now rethinking it had to be more than that.
Hobbies can get expensive, that is why I now stick to one...cameras/photography...and...well, not...not even that either.

This was not the biggest of the RC's there. But the camera battery packed it in and my spare was not in the car - where I thought it was! They had some novelty items as well. A "Flying carpet" and a "flying lawnmower" I try to go to the field on a regular basis. It is less crowded when the members are just trying out stuff. This was a special show. Several hundred people all trying to get a good look at the planes. It was hard to get a clear shot when this one was taken. Phil
