Hi, Been sorting out somemore old B&W negs today - only got about 2000 to go! Thought you might like to see some of the cars etc. They're all from 1989/1990, taken on my Canon A1. The toy fair ones were HP5, and the rest FP4. Here's one for diecast collectors Taken at the Maidstone toy collector's fair in 1989. These are all on one dealer's stand. I went there again a few years ago, but it was very sparse by comparison. And one for model locomotive fans Taken at the same toy fair. Don't know the make or age but it looks like live steam. Sellindge Steam Fair 1990 How about this, steam fans? The nearest line, from left to right, are a haulage traction engine, two showmen's engines that drove the machinery at fairs, and a road roller. Taxi anyone? This pair of consecutively numbered mid 1930s Model Y Fords were used as taxis at one of the south coast holiday resorts. Bubble, bubble Here's an example of the 1950/1960 bubble cars that came up on the forum a short time ago. Not sure if it's an Isetta or a Heinkel. Olds No idea of the year of this Oldsmobile. I'll leave that to those more knowledgeable about US autos. Visitor A Cadillac visiting from overseas in the London to Brighton veteran car run. They're flying a little Australian flag, so I presume they came all the way from Down Under. Good t'meecha, mates!

Peter
A good selection of interesting subjects. I would love to see a steam display, like the one pictured, live.

I go to the Sellindge Steam Fair almost every year, Bob, as it's only about 5 miles from me. I love the smell of hot steam oil and the whole atmosphere of a live steam meeting.
There are also lots of classic cars, trucks and military vehicles, and live displays of things like hay baling and log sawing all with vintage machinery driven by steam engines. Sometimes there's a display of steam-hauled ploughing with a traction engine each end of the field driving an endless steel hawser at walking speed to which the plough is hooked.
It's always a good place for pictures, ... provided it isn't raining. I often try out some of my older classic cameras there. They seem quite at home. It rained almost the whole day this year unfortunately, so I didn't get much in the way of pics.

Peter
I will have to keep the Sellindge Steam Fair in mind when I plan another trip to the UK. The older mechanical equipment has far more personality than the modern stuff and almost seems alive when running. The idea of shooting vintage equipment with vintage cameras seems very fitting. Hope you have better luck with the weather next year.

That's an Isetta Peter. I get a British magazine that covers that steam fair you mentioned.

Thanks, Randy. I thought it was but I wasn't sure. Would your magazine be Old Glory by any chance? I see it in my local newsagent but only get a copy if there's something in it that particularly interests me. Well, you can't get EVERY magazine!

When I was a kid in FIRST Grade I had a teacher -- named Mrs. Isetts -- who had one. She was my second grade teacher, too...and I have never forgotten the car she drove in all these years (52-53 years now)!

Isetta Peter. The Heinkel's door opened the other way. It was like the attack of the bubbles at the time, because the other well known one was the Messerschmitt. That one was easy to recognise- it had a tail!

Yes...I can also confirm the car in question is an Isetta as one of my frat brothers in college had one on campus. Goofy lil' rascal at that.
