Looking through the posts on this section I cannot help but admire the cars posted by our American members; and of course the way they have been photographed. I have always admired the fabulous restorations that have been carried out on American cars. We do have a few "old bangers" here which you see now and again and as a photographer I cannot resist photographing them. An AC Cobra outside a pub in Suffolk. An MGA outside a pub in Kent A Morgan at a rally in Suffolk A Bentley outside a pub in Essex A steam wagon travelling on the roads around Cambridge Seen as I was leaving a pub nr Cambridge. You will have to tell me what it make is. Now did I say that I regularly frequent pubs ? Ernie

Nice pictures and interesting vehicles, Ernie.
Surely, though, the "MGA" is a 1938 MG TA?
Not sure about the yellow veteran/Edwardian car. The radiator shape and 'chess board' badge are vaguely familiar, but it's now nearly 20 years since I edited The Automobile, and my identification of veteran cars is rather rusty and I can't bring the name to mind.

Huge fan of anything Caroll Shelby ever touched that I am, I've got to admit while I like all the photos (there are no bad car photos, only better ones) the steam wagon tickled my fancy the most. Absolutely fun to drive around in something like that.

The steam wagon does it for me too. A good series of photos. I doubt that you would see those outside a pub here.

Ernie, none of those machines look to be "bangers" to me. They're all fantastic IMO.
Living in Suffolk, have you visited the farm museum in Stow Market, a few miles above Needham Market and not too far North of Ipswich? It was well worth a visit when I was there 20 years ago.

Lovely Ernie. Shepherd Neame Brewery had a steam lorry in daily use when I was a boy.
I was never allowed to go in where it was going.

I enjoyed all the shots...but the car that "lights it up" for me had to be that MG! The Morgan and Cobra would be tied for second.

You are probably right about the correct type of MG; I am not very knowledgeable about vintage cars. All I could afford when I was young was an old motorbike. We have been to the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket; here are two photos taken with a Balda Super Baldax 6x6 folder when we were there. By the way thank you for all the nice comments about the cars. Jenny and Ernie.

I love those old cars. They are so beautiful. If they are bangers what does mash look like? English English is such a puzzling language, eh?

If they are bangers what does mash look like? Mickey Potatos. Personally, I prefer bangers and beans..... or good fish & chips. Cod, please. Walker

Ah Well Ernie...
That explains a lot! If I'd known that, the competition prize would have been a Polaroid Colour Swinger! LOL
(For our non-British members, Lancashire and Yorkshire have been at war since 1430!!)
Walker - That's 'cause you get that Idaho stuff over there - you need to use King Edwards!!
