Here are 3 pics I took the day after Christmas when we still had snow in Kalamazoo. We have none now. Jenny is our neighbor who we call our daughter in lieu of having one of our own. Leica Leicaflex, Summicron 50/2, Gosson Scout Lightmeter, Fuji Superia 100. Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI

Nice shots, Ron. Was the outside shots all natural light, or did you have some kind of fill reflector? Or was it just the snow? Pretty young lady, by the way.

Ron,
All natural light. There was sun as you can see from the shadows, but rather subdued. Fill was no problem.
Yes, Jenny is quite lovely. She is a graduate nurse who is preparing for her board exams. Then after some experience, she would like to become a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
She has also done some modeling, while working her way through nursing school, so is completely comfortable in front of the lens. Smart too...graduated with a 3.9 gpa.

Interesting. That first shot, in particular, almost looks like there was some sort of fill reflector to throw some light into the shadow area of her face. Must have been the extensive snow cover bouncing the light. It's a good informal portrait, nicely done.

Ron,
Depending on subject position and angle of light among other considerations, I often find less need for fill with snow present.
Now of course, a small portion of my face was not hid behind the camera, so maybe...just maybe...my brightness provided the fill...oh boy...here we go again...LOL...!! ;D ;D ;D
Also, in serious consideration, I was back a bit from the lens' closest focus distance so was not blocking any light so to speak. I slightly cropped before printing to get the comp you see in the pic.
On the inside shot, I used a small, low power, non-dedicated flash with my vertical/horizontal adjustable flip bracket. Again, back and cropped to comp seen here.

Boy there's loads of snow down here and I really could use some help... especially from a trained nurse! LOL. Lovely shots and a very pretty young lady.
