Nikon F4 with my newest acquisition--20mm AF D Nikkor. This is the point where the Oregon Trail crossed the Boise River near the future site of Caldwell, Idaho.

Nice shot Wayne, I half expect to see Pasquinel in a canoe in that scene.

Normally the river is much lower this time of year. But we have had the first really good winter for precipitation in about five years so they are letting more water out of the dams early to make room for the spring runoff. I like the 20mm but because of the angle of view, it's best to have something in the foreground (like the rock) to give the viewer some perspective.

Wayne, Nice!!! The rock in the foreground does give the scene visual perspective. Otherwise with a wide angle lens the middle and background seem miles away. A little off subject, but the word Boise brought it to my mind. Are you a fan of the Boise guys who play football on the... Smoif Toif... Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI

Yep, I'm a Boise State Bronco fan. We lost our coach, Dan Hawkins, to Colorado but the Offensive coordinator, Chris Petersen stepped in to fill his shoes. Hopefully we will continue to roll. We're not a Michigan yet but have received considerable national recognition of late. A word about the "Smurf Turf." Boise State is the only school in the country with blue rather than green artificial turn. It has grandfather rights. The NCAA won't let any other school use anything but green. From a photographic standpoint the blue turf is a nightmare. BSU plays most of its games at night and the blue field doesn't reflect light like a green field. It just soaks it up. I shot games there by available light many years ago and hated the stuff because made photography a lot tougher.

Wayne,
I knew that this past season there was a lot of speculation as to whether or not Hawkins would stay with Boise. He has done so much to further the reputation of the team and I was under the impression he was quite happy there. However, I guess that Colorado offered him more money, and he, also, may have seen a chance at further advancement for himself.
Good luck to Boise under the new coach.
