I quite like the second picture, Bob, it's got a lot of depth. Receding planes I think the art critics call it.
But the first one ... sorry, old mate, I'm probably being thick or it's too late at night, but I'm still trying to figure out why you took it. Nice texture, but a broken tree is a broken tree is a ... Maybe you see something in it that I can't?

Peter I took the tree photo because I liked the spindly shapes and quantity of the branches to the right of the broken trunk. Shapes and directions, I guess. Funny I liked that photo more than the mountain scene. But you guys liked the mountain one much better. Always something to learn.......and that's why we are all here.
be well......have fun Bob

I see Randy and Peter voted for the second shot, Bob. I like the mountain scene, too...but I like the broken tree even more! C'est le vie! ---------- OK, I admit, what I really like is the Mamiya that took them! ;D LOL

Don't worry Bob,
I like your tree stumps!! At least there is no doubt about this one's identity. You didn't manage to fit in a strange gnarly bit this time though.... !

Most excellent stump here Ron,
Nice backdrop highlighting the stump's essential stark features. We need to develop a scoring chart for this 'branch' of our hobby - points for gnarliness, fungal infestation quotient, stumposity etc etc.
Regards - John
ps I do worry sometimes - no really, I do !

Ha - you just can't get away from them !
If you check out Craigs 'Astoria Memories - 1969' post, you'll see he has cornered the market in bulk stumps!!
You've got to laugh haven't you?
