Hi Rick,
Do these herons catch their prey as most herons and storks do - by standing perfectly still and 'striking' with the bill when a fish comes in range?
Reason I ask is that the shape of the bill is very similar to our kingfisher (also to the Australian kookaburra) and they dive after their prey. Also, the green heron's legs are much shorter than our grey heron's.
Suppose we should ask the expert - Ron....?

yes, they do. even though they are the size of a pigeon the neck is capable of extending very far. I have an action sequence of the strike I will post.
