I had been seeing a pair of Indigo buntings behind my house in the woods. i set up a blind in the shadows and set out food and water. i put some cut off branches out for a perch in good light with the woods a long ways behind and in the shadows Canon F1N/Motor drive Canon 500mm f4.5 Fuji Reala 100 PS I am glad to get my F1N back from it's spa trip. Now it is good for another 25 years. ;-)

I really like this, Rick! That fantastic blue against the green bg is spectacular. It's also one of my fav small songbirds. We have them up our way too but I've only seen them like this through binocs.

Thank you both. It is good to have the 500 back from the spa and to have the 400 f2.8. I use a Canon 2x converter with the 400 for an 800 f5.6 and a 1.5 with the 500 but when they flit around I usually just shoot 300, 400 or 500. I am going to my favorite deer spot in the morning, hoping to get one good shot

Gene might I recommend a 400 f5.6 Sigma. I know the Nikon lenese did not experience the price drop of the Canon FD mont lenses but the sigma is a reasonable priced big glass capable of outstanding work. I have one in FD when I want a light weight.

Don't have that type of bird in our area. Outstanding shot!
