One of the advantages of misty mornings is when the sun does come out the dew drops sparkle like jewels. I spotted this spiders web through the French windows and nipped out to take the photo before the moment had past. Jenny.

Hi Jenny, this is a great photo. Funny, the cobweb I did photograph (but not manage to keep it in focus over the whole web) had been attached to a rose, too. Besides You got a more acurate spider... The second thing I admire in Your photo is that You did chose a point of view, where the water drops can be easily recognized. Best regards Peter PS: just for the records: I used a X-700 carrying that great Tokina AT-X 2.5/90, F=5.6, t=auto (ca. 1/15s).

I used a Canon 1DX Mk II and a 24/105 lens - Yes I did use a digital SLR to get a quick result.
I like the subtle colours in your photo Peter.

Dear Jenny, those colors did happen due to the overcast and foggy sky. Besides I tried to get a dark and even background. You got a far better cobweb and better dew drops - but I found the better background . To overcome the subtle colors: here's a crop from a similar shot - now after having played in Photoshop. PS: what size of pictures is acceptable for the forum? I don't want to push to size and traffic limits of this nice website... PS2: OK, I changed it to 800 pixels.

Generally, pictures should be no wider than 800 pixels, to avoid a lot of left-to-right scrolling........ I hope this helps.

Yes Peters you did get the better background, because the sun was shining on the dewdrops (which gave the sparkel to them) I had to put up with the background I had. Maybe I can come to your garden next Autumn and get a photo like yours.
Take care.
Jenny.

Dear Jenny,
You're welcome, whenever You at near the Lake of Constance. But actually it wasn't my garden at all. And I know the pain of a good object in front of a mediocre background all too well. I am not a photograph that mature, that I would omit the picture. And in the case of the Autumn Jewels I am glad You did post the photo, because I enjoyed seeing it. To some extend it changed the way I will look on the next dewy cobweb. Namely I will focus much more on the individual water balls when taking the next picture of this subject. So Thank You for sharing it.
Best regards Peter
