Cool! ;D It would be a cold picture to take here...the sky has been clear at night, but it's below zero!

Is the barn door tracker hand operated? The pics turned out very nice. I no longer have the skies for shooting star fields.

No I have a motor and pulley system and a pivoting bolt setup so as to keep the contact point in the same spot. I can get about a 20 minute exposure with a 50mm

I've got a large (6" barrel, as I recall, sitting here at work) reflecting telescope that I seldom use any more. My kids got it for me one Christmas (when they still needed a little help from "Ms. Santa") -- so it's been around a while. I always intended to get an eyepiece/adapter so I could shoot some of the things you've been showing us. It was fun at first, but it has no motorized tracking, just those infernal gosh-awful twist connectors, so tracking anything once you found it was just this side of impossible. No, I take that back...it was definitely the other side of impossible! It was a relatively inexpensive model (didn't seem like it at the time) and there were no motorized tracking attachments available for that particular model. I finally gave up trying to do anything with it. Your pictures have put yet another bug in my ear...an itch of a different sort...yet still related to cameras!

look in the general board. I used a stepper motor from an old 5" floppy drive. I have a friend with a small warehouse of old computer junk

Hey, maybe we could work a trade on that telescope Ya know...I thought about it. Saw your post and wondered what photo nicety you might have that I would be interested in. Actually went downstairs and took the small blanket off that I use as a dust cover. Got to checking to see that everything was there (yep) and for a moment -- just a moment -- thought about taking it outside for "a look." That thought passed quickly, as I remembered it was about 3°F outside. But it must be "the acquirer" in me that finally said...no, not yet. Not quite yet. I'll have to take a picture of it and post it this weekend.

These are superb for hand tracked shots Rick, but I suspect you'll have to start piggy-backing soon!
I had a 4-1/2 inch reflector (a standard size at the time), but I cleaned the mirror with Windowlene. That in itself would have been OK, but it turned out that the duster cloth that I polished the mirror with afterwards had previously been used for Brasso!
