Dear fellow camera collectors,
On the day after arrival I quit the conference a bit earlier (due to lame contributions ;-) ).
I anticipated that spare time would become rare on the next days, as my talk was coming nearer,
and I am totally horrified by stage fright (which is not even better when having to talk in a
forign language).
So I went back to the hotel, which was very near the St. Lazare train station.
Gare St. Lazare
I walked to the Opera Garnier, the Paris opera house. I first saw the back of it:
There was some restauration going on on the front side, but I manage to take this one,
which doesn't feature to much clutter...
A monument is refering to Charles Garnier:
While the classical style applied is based on Roman examples (I like the Greek ones
better), I anyway have to conceed, that is is a beautiful building down to the
tiniest detail. And it got plenty of detail...
I walked on to the Louvre (took a few pictures, but there was heavy traffic, and
deep in my heart I prefer city pictures without showing cars.
OK, You see, it is pretty difficult... this is the best one I was able to do:
I walked on, as I planned to take a peek on Notre Dame (which will be covered
in a separate post as I already got enough pictures to show here). I came by
the Palais Royale (one of the many touristical highlights, I have never heard
of before):
Walking along the Louvre from Palais Royale the next view is to the church of
St. Germain l'Auxerrois:
Later I heared of the famous stained glass windows and a set of exceptionally
beautiful halls - but I wasn't there at the open hours... so I walked on
towards the river Seine...
... and then I had my first peek to Notre Dame. But this will be covered
on the next time.
Best regards
Peter
