Dear friends (I hope some are left to watch the pictures...oh, and today there are not so much to come) On Tuesday morning I got up short after 6 a.m. and left the hotel before 7 to catch a metro to Montmartre. I approached Sacre Coeur from the North-East. The sun was about to rise, and everything looked still pretty pale. I was very surprised on the size of the cathedral - it is huge, and on all the photographs I saw, it seemed small. But first I found a great view on the rising sun peeking through the houses just beside Sacre Coeur: I walked around the west front of the cathedral - and the view became wide open over the city! What a great sunrise! I was happy that I got up - and to this place. I stood just in front of the cathedral - and was happy I got that 24mm MC W.Rokkor. All these photographs were taken by the 24mm lens - and I did a lot of perspective adjustment to prepare the final pictures. OK - I then had to hurry to go to work... on the evening there was a dinner at the Wine Museum - but this was far less challenging than I anticipated. So stay tuned for the day 4... Best regards Peter

Peter. Nice shots. I love the perspective a 24mm gives. For me it's the perfect full-frame WA lens.

Wayne, I do not exactly like it - I had to apply perspective correction to all those pictures. On the other hand stiching pictures is even worse. If I got enough space I clearly prefer a normal lens. But the actual situation in the cities is, that one needs the widest available - next time I will include a 17mm lens into my kit! Btw, I got one of the few tele pictures: Taken with a Tamron SP 3.5/70-210 I bought as a by-catch. I am very pleased with that lens. And I can highly recommend it. If I only loved zooms... Best regards Peter PS: I agree, that 24mm is a perfect wide angle. It is a real wide angle in that it is noticable different from the normal lenses. And it is way less critical than those 17..20mm devils, that needed to be operated at GPS precision...

Wonderful shots. Yes, wide angle is the major lens to use in Europe. I have a 28mm, but your 24mm is better! Off to ebay I go!

Minoltaman,
yes, get on - it is one of the best lenses in the Minolta Rokkor line. A hell of a lens. Just look on the 100% crop I got from one of my Eiffel Tower shots. Those 24mm lenses come at a cost, but they are worth every penny. IMHO it is the best wide angle Minolta every did. It might render Your 28mm lens obsolete - but heck, it opens different possibilities.
Best regards Peter
PS: sorry, if this thread now turns towards a "lens discussion"..
