They are nesting in one of my boxes and must have some young because they take the bugs inside Sigma 400 f5.6

Hi Rick,
I never saw such a blue bird... I like the second picture more than the first (albeit the blue one is a _very_ attractive model) - but You got a way better background in the second. So sad, that there is the blurry fence in the forground - You need to train the birst sitting on a higher branch ;-)
Best regards Peter
I have to confess, that I never did succeed in taking a picture of a bird (or a squirrel which I tried - but the cherry tree, where they dwell has way too many branches...).

Hi Rick, You're probably tired of hearing this but nice job. We almost never see goldfinch, bluebirds or cardinals here. We do have kingfishers, bluejays, cedar waxwings and grosbeaks but as usual the lens I have with me at the time is seldom much good for anything smaller than a goose nibbling on my toes. One of these days. Today I saw a rough legged hawk circling slowly above the field at a park where I take my dog but by the time the car was parked, he was long gone dadgummit.

Curt that is the reason I have a backpack camera bag and keep it close. Most of my bird shots are taken in my yard. I am blessed to be able to do that. I forgot to add they are hand held also. I know that kills you guys ;-) Pter. I put those branches right above a feeder. It is tied to the fence and only 12 feet from my office window. I capture crickets and place them for the bluebirds, seeds for the others and fruit for the orioles

Rick,
Once again lovely pictures. I have not seen bluebirds here for many years. The ones I remember were a much duller blue and, I seem to recall their breasts were red all over.
About the time Jan Pierce started singing "Bluebird of Happiness" they all disappeared.

These are beautiful Rick - as always. I've recently had a dip where it didn't seem worthwhile loading a camera.. I've started to shoot again, and - these have given me a real kick up the backside. You make me proud to be on here!
Regards - John
