A few weeks ago I got to go on a short hiking trip with my daughter. About 3 hours round trip, with nice little views into the notch. my daughter at the summit. She has a little less fear of heights than I do, she couldn't get me out on that rock, lol. the road through Crawford Notch another view through the notch All taken with that same mamiya that's getting such a workout lately. I love our little mountains and notches...though I might have a slight inferiority complex after viewing those photos from austria Sherri

Beautiful , Sherri. I'm with you. Heights don't bother me at all in an airplane, but that rock? N-o-o-o! Roy

Wow Sherri! Great shots! Isn't there a railroad right of way around there?

Sherri, impressive shots! What a beautiful place. I'll bet it was spectacular being there in person.

Hi Sherri,
I enjoyed looking at Your photographs of that mellow mountain (which I know can be pretty steep when ascending, too). It must have been a joy to hike through this landscape on this nice weather.
I have not much seen of the North American landscape, but my impression that everything is wide and open. On contrary to that the typical landscapes here in Europe (I know a bit of France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy) are much smaller and quite narrow. And consequently this also applies to most of the cities, maybe with the exception of a few big cites.
Best regards Peter

Wonderful scenery, Sherri. I bet that place is going to be spectacular when the full fall colors arrive! That should be a trip all in itself (got to keep that Mamiya excercised, ya know!)

Unfortunately my one and only hiking partner seems to have gone off and developed herself a life, lol, so it's doubtful if we'll be getting up there in time for that...in fact there's already snow on the other side of that notch, where the elevations get a little higher. But I'm sure the mamiya will get some more use around here once the colors start to go. Peter, the mountains are small, but they are all pretty rough and rocky and often very steep. And the land in my area is fairly hilly and rough, with quite a few trees and forests...not so wide open as you might think. But it is pretty, and I love spending time in the hills.

Lovely pictures Sherri. Looks a bit like parts of Scotland but you have more trees
