Due to the remark of Rachel, I would like to post the better two pictures, too. XD-7, Tokina AT-X 2.5/90 with 2x teleconverter, F ca. 8, tripod of course same as above, without teleconverter This flower looks great, but is a hell of difficult to photograph. I tried at least ten times. This is the first times, it slowly approaches the impression the flower gives. Best regards Peter

I like number 1: a great flower shot. I can see from this pic where the name "devil's claw" comes from.

Dear Geoff,
Thank You for Your kind comment! And I have to repeat again, that it took me so many tries to catch that little devil in a manner, that one can get an impression of its appearance. I added the second frame in order to show the whole plant. Please note that in lower (and warmer) places this plant can be as high as 50 cm. I saw ones that had vivid magenta petals and a red or purple centers of the blossom.
But virtually all of my previous attempts failed because they conveyed the impression of a total mess. I could get no order into it. I allways had green backgrounds - so I was happy to find a brown background here, so that I could isolate it, and have at least a bit of contrast.
Best regards Peter
