This past Saturday and Sunday the eastern parts of Canada and the USA were subjected to an immense blizzard. Sunday, which should have been one of the busiest shopping days of the year, most of the plazas and shopping centres and streets were virtually deserted. My part of Toronto received 18" of snow breaking a record of 12" that was set in 1944. Some parts of eastern North America got much more. The city had 600 snow ploughs clearing the roads and 300 smaller ploughs doing the sidewalks. There were 200 trucks out sanding and salting the roads. The crews worked around the clock, some of them for 48 hours. They did a superb job. Toronto's extensive systems of ravines were things of beauty. This log cabin was sheltered to the leeward of a high, steep hill and received relatively little snow. Mickey

Mickey, you've got some great shots of the aftermath here. It was a big storm with very high winds. You're right about the crews -- they worked hard to clear out the snow so the rest of us could carry on as normal.

This is not fair. We are going to have a "black" Christmas here. Well, I'm consoling myself with these pictures. Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays!

Gene,
The perfect P.S.
I love the snow but I guess not everybody is as crazy as I.
Reijo,
Don't let Santa round up his reindeer unless he promises you a white Christmas.

Great pictures of the creek! And I like closeup #1 very much, the blue tint and the angles are nice. I hope you manage okay in that weather.

Wonderful pics. We have just a coating of snow here on the Southern Shore of Lake Erie. Supposed to warm up saturday and then sunday and monday we are supposed to get blasted with 100% chances of heavy snow fall.

Mickey -- Love those ravine shots! Very nice! Looking at the snow is marvelous...don't even mind being out in it (for a little while). It makes for terrific pictures, like yours. Hate driving in the stuff, though. Perhaps when I retire I'll learn to appreciate it more! ----- BTW Gene -- That "For Sale" shot really brought a smile to my face!

Excellent photos of the great white north Mickey!
We're getting the usual rain this year, in fact it flooded a lot of areas around here a couple of weeks ago. I hope Santa has a kayak.........
