Being from the Southern Hemisphere means that we are coming into the warmer months with Summer just around the corner. This also means storm season. We had an amazing storm last Tuesday night with lots of thunder and lightning and buckets of rain. I went out onto the front veranda with my cousin and aunt to watch the light show and my aunt mentioned that she was surprised that I didn't have a camera in hand taking pics of the lightning. It had completely slipped my mind to do that, so I went inside and grabbed my 300D (DRebel) and put the kit (18-55mm EFS) lens on it and grabbed my monopod. Set to 30s @ f16 I steadied the camera and pressed the shutter release about 18 times in all. I ended up with 2 reasonable shots and one even better from the lot. I have always wanted to get a good shot of lightning and I have done it finally after all these years. These have all been cropped but have had no enhancements whatsoever. Thanks for looking. Heath

Heath,
Lightening shots never fail to amaze me...like snowflakes, no one is alike. You did well.
I have never even tried to capture a lightening bolt.
