With Marion rehabbing from her hip-replacement, I'm sticking pretty close to home. Fortunately it's a lovely time for the garden ecosystem and there's a lot to shoot right outside the door. Herb RobertThis lovely little wildflower is a stray, probably from a windblown seed. Amazingly, it landed right beside a rock in our native-plant bed, so it couldn't have been better placed. This flower is native to the upper US states and parts of southern Canada Robber FlyA friend of mine was once a professor of entomology and he confirmed my ID. Here's what he says about this little fly that was on a leaf in our back garden: "These things are fast and agile and they feed voraciously on wasps, bees, grasshoppers, other flies and spiders. A robber fly can even take down a dragonfly in mid-flight. " Both images Canon A620 in macro mode Gene
