Very nice indeed! That second one looks like the fattest, blimp-like hoverfly (aka syrphid fly) I've ever seen!

Absolutely great Lee, wow. I really admire folks who can do macro photography and do it so well. I have close up lenses, focus rails, and extension tubes galore but I've never gotten a shot I was pleased with. Keep up the excellent work and hope it's ok with you if I borrow the fly shot for a couple of days to use as my desktop. I change shots every three or four days as whimsy takes me and I'd sure like to borrow it if that's ok with you.

thanks guys.............. ;D Just for your info,that bee shot was taken with a Canon 20D and stock kit lens EFS 18-55mm. Shot was then cropped................. thanks again for your kind comments.......... Air

Air, please excuse the naturalist in me, but it's not a bee, it's a syrphid fly (aka hover fly), and a great shot of one! They mimic bees quite a bit in their looks and behaviour, but the telltale sign is that it has a single pair of wings -- making it a fly. (The eyes are a giveaway too).
