Rugosa Rosebud, W bank of Credit River Canon 300D, Nikkor 85/2, Hoya +1 diopter I was playing with a set of Hoya +1 +2 +3 closeup diopter lenses yesterday. My Nikkor 85mm f/2 lens is not a macro lens, so I popped on a diopter to get closer. Aperture somewhere around f/8. I darkened the corners more than usual -- do you think it's a bit over the top, or is it okay? Gene

Vibrant color Gene, I like it. I must confess though, when I first saw the name "ROSEBUD" on this thread I thought of Citizen Kane and Orson Welles.

Thanks Mickey, Randy! I must confess though, when I first saw the name "ROSEBUD" on this thread I thought of Citizen Kane and Orson Welles. The same thought crossed my mind when I was naming it! Great old movie! Gene

Gene,
I also like the shot. The various depth of fields that are visible make for an interesting view. ie., eg.,...the noticeable leaf in the midfield with the striations progressing to just the green background color.
It seems everyone takes a 'normal' upright shot of flowers. I like the fact that this one is on its side, not quite open and the little 'furry' edges of the greens going up around it.

Thanks Ron. I had some 'normal' uprights of these roses as well, but they didn't look as interesting as this little bud..
