Every time I turn around there's more in bloom in our wildflower garden. I'm trying to document the season... Emerging Black-eyed Susan Black-eyed Susan (converted to B&W) Purple Coneflower (Ecinacea) Common Sunflower Canon A620, macro mode This little compact digi P&S is my main go-to cam for the project. These are all great Gene.
Wonder if Canon will increase the size of the optical viewfinder on whatever they bring in as the replacement for the A620? I'm more impressed with every post you make from it. My friend was desperately trying to think of a birthday present for his new bride. As she has artistic aspirations (not photographic ones so far) I recommended the A620 to him.
If it works out, we may get a new member, and if not - well, Gene made me do it!!
Regards - John

John, I'm glad you enjoyed them. I suspect flower pics, like family pics, are of more interest to the taker than the viewer I don't know if Canon will ever increase the size of the optical VF but thank goodness they have one at all. It's a disappearing feature on most P&S models. Daft, I think. I use mine all the time. It's a bit of a peephole but no worse than my Stylus Epic. My wife thinks echinacea capsules help ward off a cold... Gene

Gene,
I can't imagine anyone not being interested in such beautiful pictures.
Last year I sowed a huge jar full of mauve "wildflower" seeds in my front garden. For my trouble I had a garden full of what looked like scruffy weeds. No flowers. This summer tiny wild flowers of assorted ancestery are coming up where they are no longer wanted. So they are classified by me as weeds. Well, I never was much of a gardener. I would rather sit back and watch the products of your garden. I don't even have to water them.

Just plain beautifull...!!!!!! I really enjoyed just looking at these pics and closing my mind to any thoughts of criticism...constructive or otherwise.
Sometimes I think we experienced photogs think too much when viewing another's work that we cannot truely enjoy and appreciate the images.
Another good job, Gene!!

Randy, Ron, thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed them. I've never been any good at critiquing photos -- I tend simply to react to them. Mickey, it's said that a 'weed' is any plant growing where you don't want it to grow. Guess that could be anything, even roses! Gene

PS, I was looking at the local Wal mart and they have an A520 reduced. Is it the same except for the pixel count?

PS, I was looking at the local Wal mart and they have an A520 reduced. Is it the same except for the pixel count? I double checked. No, the 520 is a different series. It's smaller and only takes 2 AA batteries instead of the 4 the 620 uses. I didn't do a thorough feature by feature comparison, but it appears to be a simpler camera with fewer advanced features. The slightly cheaper version of the A620 is the A610. Nearly the same camera but 5 megapixels rather than 7 megapixels. Both are considered outstanding. I got the A620 to get a little extra cropping room. If you're willing to buy from online stores, the A620 is being discounted all over the place. Probably making way for a new model in the fall. Gene
