is worth two in the bush, or some such Canon DReb Sigma 500 f4.5 Since I have gotten the Manfrotto gimbal mount my keeper rate, with the big glass, has really gone up. It coupled with the big Giottos tripod is outstanding

As you know I've got the Giottos down from yours. What's the gimbal mount model number so I can look out for one?

Bogen 3421 much less than a Kirk or other Gimbal and works just as well. A countryman of yours turned me onto it. He uses it with a Sigma 300-800 lens and it works fine with my 600 f 4 lens Here's a link to some photos of it www.pbase.com/littleflurry/bogen3421

Beautiful shot, Rick. The other cardinal in the background really makes the image IMO. I'm more impressed by your Sigma lens every time you post a new picture taken with it.

You are getting the workings of total steadiness and learning the pros/cons of that lens nicely. Practice makes perpect, as the old saying goes, and you are showing us some great images.
