Neat images. Bring back a lot of childhood memories.
There's a shop area near me that's kind of a "Christmas Year Round" place...the main shop has ornaments and such all year long...and the rest of the mini shops are in old tenant farmer buildings converted to stores...selling everything from handcrafted leather goods to all-Scottish items! There's a restaurant with stained glass imported from old English castles and restored...and several other theme restaurants. The whole area is kind of a park or village setting, and can be quite nice in the summertime (they even have some classic car and art event weekends).
They have an old carousel from Europe that was imported and restored. Should be just about time for them to set it up again. I'll have to remember to walk over there and get some shots, if it is.

Curt,
Those old carousels with their fancifully painted horses and other magic creatures are true works of art. And that beautiful, unmatchable, squeally, clangy music was so perfect for them. I remember as a child the two merry go rounds ( we never heard of carousels ), the regular one and the fast one ( The Derby ) at Toronto's Sunnyside Park. They were the cheapest rides being only a nickel and dime respectively. Hence we spent all our ride money on them. Except for one ride and one ride only on the roller coaster. Often the attendant would allow us to stay on the merry go round as long as we wished. Getting off a moving carousel was another art. Should I ever see another one you can be sure I shall ride it although I doubt that I could hop on a moving one the way I used to.

Hi Mickey, Strange, until you mentioned it I'd forgotten all about getting off the merry go round while it was moving. Funny the things we forget. We have a roller coaster too (rickety as all get out, a definite bone shaker) but it's a reasonably tame one and until last night they hadn't re-installed the cars for the summer. Maybe I'll get a photo or two of those and the bumper cars too. Right now they're all chained in a row so not very photogenic.

... stained glass imported from old English castles ... I was wondering what had happened to that stained glass. There's been more draught than usual at breakfast. Must remember to pull the drawbridge up at night.
