How pleasant to sit in my warm house and watch the snowstorm through my windows. Retirement has many benefits Taken around noon today, EST, Nikon D200, Nikkor 180/2.8 ED Gene

Just dug out from the last storm. More due in the next few days. We have about a foot on the gound. This is unusual for us. We seldom get more than a couple of inches and it is seldom on the ground more than a couple of days. Two years until I can stay home and watch the snow fall. Good to see you giving that D200 some exercise, Gene.

Gene, nice reminder of why I live in Georgia! I applied for Social Security last week and should get my first check later in February. I still work but it's only a few hours a day and almost never on weekends. I'll hang up my hat for good by year's end I think and I'm looking forward to it. Walker

It's still snowing and blowing. We're getting part of the big storm that curved up through the Ohio Valley and into Canada. Beautiful to watch from indoors, but my thoughts and wishes go with everyone who has to be on the road today.
Walker, I enjoy retirement enormously so I'm rather biased, but I think you'll like how it affects your photography. I envy you your mild winter, but not your hot, humid summer. Like all things, I guess it's a tradeoff.

Wayne, you'll be surprised at how rapidly the next two years go for you. Time seems to speed up as I get older. Gene, I have enough projects and hobbies and other interests that I should never be bored in retirement. IMO the people who have the most problems in retirement are those for whom work is their entire life. They have few, if any, outside interests or hobbies. Those of us who enjoy photography and other things are luckier than most. I don't watch much TV, preferring a good book instead. I hope to spend more time with my two grandaughters and visit old friends. I'd love to spend Winter in Georgia and the Summers in the mountains of West Virginia. It would be hot at times but not as bad as Georgia in Summer. Maybe if I hit the Lotto........... Walker
