I just got this lens today and was wondering what those of you who have it think about it? It's so small & matches perfectly (IMO) with my Nicca... I have seen some great shots from others using this lens & I can't wait to see how it handles for myself! I love the J-12's I have, but I think this lens will get a lot more use. No more looking down into the lens to check that I hadn't changed the aperture while focusing. The rear element isn't such a monster either, so I'll be a little less petrified taking it on and off my cameras. AND it has a focusing lever! Does anyone have experience with mounting filters on the hood? The deal I got included a Leitz UV filter marked Summarit, but I don't know if it is a good idea having the filter so far from the front element? Thanks, Peter

Peter, I own one of these -- a black one I use on my IIIf. It's an incredible lens, very sharp, very contrasty. Not much prone to flare. And, as you say, very small. Many consider it the 'best buy' in modern lenses. Do you flickr? If so, there's now a flickr group devoted to this lens: www.flickr.com/groups/cv35cs/I've not yet tried to attach a filter so can't help there. Gene

Hey Gene, Thanks for your comments... I have read some similar opinions & that lead me to buy another 35mm... Not to mention I got a good deal & I find it hard to pass those up! I do have some pictures on flickr... Here's a link: www.flickr.com/photos/17956861@N00/- edit - for some reason the url link feature doesn't like the '@n00' and you'll need to add that manually to reach my site... Sorry, not sure how to fix that one? I'll definitely check out the group you suggested... hopefully I'll have my first results back this week & will be able to add some shots. Cheers! Peter

Hi Peter,
I have this lens too and it's very good. I bought a B&W 39mm filter and it fits between the lens proper and the little silver hood, more of a ring really, that it comes with. You unscrew the hood, attach the filter, and replace the hood. This may only work with low-profile filters..

I have been looking at 39mm filters & will definitely buy one of the thinner kind. Thanks for the tip! Peter

I have the 25/4 Snapshot Skopar. A very noticeable difference when compared with the 50 year old designs of my Canon RF lenses!

great lens, the only drawbacks (and that depends on the individual) is it'a not really meant for the ham fisted as it's very small and it's not the fastest lens. my biggest concern when i had one was the contrast level seemed very high at times.
but it is very sharp, very good looking and really fits an older camera well.
