Here is the reason I sold a lot of my camera gear. Just came by UPS today. It was supposed to come tomorrow, I have everything shipped to my nephews motorcycle shop. It came early, he called and said it would not fit on his bike I sold a lot of my Canon FD gear, all my medium format and my Sigma 500 f4.5 and my Tokina 300 f2.8. The Sigma was redundant. not much bigger than my 400 f5.6 only 1/2 stop faster and much larger. The Tokina was expendable after getting the Sigma 120-300 f2.8. This one came at a fantastic deal. It is an older model, one of the first, but other than cosmetics it is flawless. Birding and wildlife time is just around the corner, here. ;D Thanks to all who bought stuff and helped with the purchase. For size comparison that is a 1DMKIIN attached to it

Looking good. I'll bet the birds will be impressed, I am anyway. I have the same Manfrotto head and they really work well with large teles. Be sure an post some results with the new edition.

As Bob says, show us some pics from this beauty. Does it come with a dedicated tripod-mount golf cart? I expect to see some great images of egret irises :-)

Gene, just so happens I do have a camo golf cart. It has a ball head mounted on it. I will have to get some photos of it

Rick: A shame you couldn't get a big lens....but is a golf cart going to hold that without tipping? LOL! ;D
Looking forward to some images!

Darn, Rick! Even with a golf cart you may need to hire a "Lens Bearer" just to carry that thing! I'd like to see some bird images from it when you can. If they're as good as your other images, they'll be worth seeing.
