Hi,
New member here. I joined to ask a question.
I have a lens that I had planned to remount but I am curious as to its history. It is a "GALAXY-ZOOM MACRO 1:3.5 24-40mm Multi-coated No.777001 (72mm front dia). It is marked "lens made in Japan" and the Konica mount is marked ACOM-1 on the rear face. I assume it is a relabeled lens from some high volume manufacturer, but my INTERNET searches haven't turned up any "GALAXY" lens makers.
The serial number is interesting. Is this perhaps serial number 1 of some not very successful line?
Can anyone name the manufacturer and explain the name "GALAXY"?
thanks

I would think that GALAXY is a marketing name. It rings a faint bell with me. I think it was a range marketed by a UK retailer some 20 30 years ago. I'll have a look through some old magazines and see if I can find an advert for one.
Had a quick search on internet and the only reference I could find were lenses sold by the Dixons shops in the UK under the Prinz Galaxy name. Possibly your lens is one of those?

Hi THBJR - you really need to put a name we can talk to you by in your profile, but welcome anyway!
Personally, I've never heard of a Galaxy lens either, but I don't see a problem. Put it on a Konica and see what it can do. Don't have a Konica? Then that's my first bit of advice to you - get one! The Autoreflexes (all mechanical) are good, but the 'F' series are superb, and not going for too much on the old eBay at the moment.
Once you've got one you'll like them so much you'll want more - and that's what we do on here!
Regards - John

Also sounds like one of the old Sun zooms that Spiratone sold. There was a Sun 24-40 F/3.5 zoom marketed by them in the late seventies.
