A short while ago Scott asked us if we had used our Beirette Electronic and we had to admit that although we have had it some time we had not used the camera. Whilst on holiday last week in Alcester we did run a film through the Beirette. A couple of the results we have posted below; for a simple plastic camera from East Germany they are not the best of images but with a little work on Photoshop they are acceptable. All of the images were soft and grainy with poor saturation, but we did our best lol. Jenny

I would say you did a good job in PS if the film was as bad as you say. PS can do a lot for us, although I use it minimally as I like to do as much as possible with the camera/lens itself.
But your choices of subject and compositions are fantastic. If they were mine, and especially with the second one, I would seriously consider scanning and making a 13"x19" print to put on the wall of my den.
Just a question. When you post pics, I notice you neither credit Ernie or Jenny as the photog. Who does take most of the shots and could/would you indicate which of you did, please!! It is always interesting to see the similarity or difference in what subject and composition is chosen by a woman or man.
Thanks...and keep posting those very picturesque scenes!!

Ron,
You seem to be around my age ! Surely you must know by now that if there is a decision to be made the lady always takes the best photos. I don't want to do my own washing and ironing for the rest of my life.
With the old cameras you are a little limited in what you can get good results from. We are lucky in that travelling quite a lot there is a wealth of picturesque material. With the older cameras we both take similar shots; it is in the digital we differ. Jenny will wait a long time for the perfect shot; I am more impatient. Then again if it moves about she misses it lol.
Actually both these are mine but keep it quiet.
Ernie

Hello, Nice to see the Beirette holiday snaps! Where is Alcester, by the way? I used my Beirette Electronic a couple of years ago, and then I think I put it away when I got a working Yashica GSN. Here's a photo from back then. I dug the Beirette out again last week, and I'm in the middle of a new roll now. That's the San Antonio River, downtown San Antonio, Texas. I like mine. Seems to have a good lens. I'm guessing 4 elements. Aperture-priority auto-exposure, with a red light to indicate shutter speeds slower than 1/30. In low light, mine gives exposures of over 20 seconds. Takes LR44 batteries. Not bad for less than $10. But the noise it makes when releasing the shutter and winding does make it sound like very cheap camera.

Hi Scott,
That sure is a colourful photo.
Alcester is a small town in Warwickshire just NW of Stratford. It is a very old town going back to roman times and features a lot of half timbered houses. Some of the photos we have posted were taken around a beautiful sheltered housing complex for retired people. It is the most colourful and attractive place you can imagine.
