Not much activity here today ( Sunday morning). Traffic always seems to drop off on weekends on all the forums--especially in the summer. I spent most of Saturday patching cracks in our concrete driveway in 90 plus temps. Not something I enjoy but necessary.
Today it's supposed to hit 100 degrees so my plans are primarly to stay in an air conditioned house or car. When I was a kid hardly anyone had air conditioning (or heat piped to every room in the winter). But I don't remember anyone complaining. I guess one just adjusts to his or her environment
The one good thing about winter is I have a valid exchuse for ignoring the yard and catching up on indoor projects. I the coming winter I vow to fix that shutter on one of my Zorki 5s. I know what's wrong--no big deal--all I need is the ambition.

Today started drizzly and windy in my corner of the UK, so I decided to do some processing. I'd been given some Rodinal. Years since I'd used it, but I decided to try it out on a couple of old films. The first was a roll I'd forgotten about and must have been taken 15 or more years ago. It was taken at a rehersal for the musical 'The Witness' put on by our local Christian Fellowship. Film was FP4, camera Canon A1, stage lighting. 13 minutes in Rodinal 1+40. Jesus performs a miracle. Lively duet Come on - CRESCENDO! Musical Director Liz Doyle. I was pleased with the tone range from a film exposed that long ago, but I'm still not certain whether or not I like the gritty look of Rodinal. The second film was a real chancer. You may or may not remember I bought a Kodak Six-20 Duo that still had a part finished film in it. The film was Kodacolor X, a colour print film that was last made in 1974, so it must have been in the camera at least 32 years. There were a couple of exposures left on the roll so I shot these off before winding it off. The original processing was C-22. You can still get it done, but it's silly expensive, so I decided to do a spot of cross-processing in Rodinal. Again I gave it 13 minutes at 1+40. The camera's back had been opened at some time because a lot of the film was just jet black. What remained of the original pictures were lost completely, sunk without trace in a sea of impenetrable fog. The two I shot were pretty grim, but at least I got images of sorts. Here they are: Walk in the woods. John was stripping the engine and gearbox etc out of this Volvo in our back garden to go in one he is restoring. Pretty dismal images, but at least the film produced something. Peter W.

I went to Yorkdale with relatives visiting from Edinburgh. It is a huge shopping centre. I walked about three inches off my legs. Then supper with them at Mandarin Buffet, my favourite restaurant and now theirs too. And so to bed.

Peter,
I find your "walk in the Woods" particularly mystifying and appealing.

Spent the day yesterday building a wheelchair ramp for my brother. It was miserably hot and humid but the fresh fried fish was worth it. Today I went to church then carried a roll of Fuji NPH 160 to wal mart for develop only and scanned it this evening.
