I like this a lot, Bill. Lovely textures, and good shadow detail in the dull lighting. I was given a bottle of Ilfosol S several months ago but it's still unopened. I must try it out.
Just a thought, why did you rate the HP5 at 320 and not 400? I seem to remember that was the old speed rating for HP4 which I used to use as my 'fast' film years ago. Not that half a stop would make a lot of difference I suppose. The leaflet with my Ilfosol gives nine and a half minutes with HP5 at 1 + 14. Is that what you used?

Bill,
This is a terrific picture that perfectly captures the feel of the area. I have been by there many times on my bicycle without having seen the beautiful scene that you have captured.

PeterW I find I get better results when I rate HP5 at 320 outdoors, indoors I go a straight 400 if I am using fill flash. The only film I had decent luck rated at 400 in most situations is Tri-x. Lighting in Southern Ontario (or East Central Canada) has been really flat this past fall. I used the 1+14 dilution with the Ilfosil S and my only real complaint with the developer is it goes bad easily when opened, Rodinal or HC110 its not. So open it and use the bottle for the next few months. I like the results, I want to try it out with some FP4 when it gets brighter out there.

I absolutely love this picture! I'm going to claim it as mine! Well, I probably won't do that, but I sure wish I could. It has an amazing 3-dimensionality to it. I often try to capture this effect, but generally fail. Excellent work!
