What is in your area? It is hard to do them justice sometimes. These are B&W conversions of photos shot with a IIIc and Summaron 3.5. Bob

I love bridges! Have a ton of photos of them somewhere. I particularly like the first shot, but the second shot is interesting, too. They look particulary good in b+w

Thanks guys, I never know what to do or how to do it with bridges. They are interesting though.

I have to agree with you on the difficulty factor, Bob. My local camera club recently used bridges as the monthly competition theme. I have to say that most photos were, well ....... photos of bridges. Leaving aside the technical aspects, the only entries which (IMHO) had any impact were the handful where the photographers had abstracted small sections of the bridge. But then these were more to do with light, form, texture, etc. and had little to do with bridges.

Here's a shot I took way back in 1963 when I was 11 years old.

This is the aquaduct that carried the Chesapeak & Ohio Canal over the Potomac River. The canal was begun in 1828 with operations from 1836 until 1924. It ran 184 miles from Washington, DC to Cumberland, Maryland. This picture was taken by my father in late 1974 with an Exakta RTL-1000 on Plus-X film. Walker
