Thank you both for your good wishes.
Not a particularly happy birthday, as my wife is still in hospital and I spent the afternoon & evening with her.
I honestly don't know the outcome as yet - they are taking her in an ambulance tomorrow from the local hospital to see the specialist at a main teaching hospital in Cardiff 80 miles away, so that's where I am headed in a few hours, to spend the night nearby, so I'll be on time in the morning (they have access to sirens & flashing blue lights to clear the rush hour traffic out of the way!)
As Joan is never ill (the last time she was in hospital was for the birth of my daughter in 1977) the problems of the last few months have come as a great shock and kept me from contributing more here.

I'm very sorry to hear about your wife's condition and will keep both of you in my thoughts. May she recover quickly and well.

Paul:
Illness and hospitalization can be demoralizing to the whole family. We went through a lot of trauma (still going through it, actually, five years later) after my youngest son's auto accident.
My heart, my thoughts, and my prayers are with you.

Just like to add my good wishes to all the other ones Paul. Your lady wife obviously has good recuperative abilities as she hasn't gone down with anything since 1977. Fingers crossed here too...
