I just finished my perodic E-bay cruise with a peek at what was available for Canonflexes. A Canonflex RM with the rare 58/1.2 lens caught my eye. As I read the description I found a paragraph lifted, verbatim, from my Canon web page. I'm not surprised, since it is so easy to do, but how do I report this to E-bay?

You may want to email the seller and explain that you don't appreciate having your web site information quoted verbatum unless contacted first and you give your approval. Further explain that unless it's removed immediately, you intend to report them to ebay. At least give them the opportunity to correct their "mistake". Then, depending upon their attitude, do what you feel is right.
That's what I think I'd do.

You should check out the eBay VeRo process...for reporting things like copyright infringement. It's a pain to set up, since you have to send hard copy info to them first, before they will give you an online method, but it's the only way they will really do anything. Just an FYI...I've discovered that they are faster to act on image violations than text, and particularly when I come across one of my images being used as the item for sale (which is also fraud)!
I always do as Walker suggested, and send a polite message to the seller about my disapproval of lifting copy verbatim without my permission, or without an acknowledgement of source. My messages about image theft are still polite, but a lot firmer...and I always contact eBay VeRo right away about images, although sometimes the seller removes them before anything is done. But several auctions have been stopped by eBay because of the image infringement (but none for copy).
A lot of times sellers are embarrassed at having done it...but just as often they take a "whaddaya gonna do about" stance...but I report them to VeRo and let them know I've done it. Repeat offenders can potentially be banned from eBay (although I don't know of anyone who actually has been)!
Good luck.
