Today was my youngest grandson Luke's birthay. Six today! And very proud of it!
He's now fast asleep, tired out after a wonderful day. He often sits on my lap at the computer and likes to see the pictures members have posted, and he's often quite definite about what he likes best. I took the opportunity of wishing him a happy birthday from all members.
He's also frighteningly computer literate for a just-six-year-old. He knows how to go to the sites he likes, usually cartoons or children's games, is quite a dab hand with the mouse, and knows how to print out some of the pictures for colouring.
Won't be long before I'm asking him for advice!

Peter,
Be prepared.
Both of my grandsons were interested in computers at an early age - even before they started school.
My son used and uses computers in his business and my daughter-in-law wrote her thesis on the use of computer information in the courts.
Now, Aaron, my almost 22 year old will be graduating from university in a few months as an I.T.
And Evan, the 17 year old will be starting university on Tuesday with hopes of becoming an I.T.
In my eyes they have always been "It" - but "I.T."? Melissa, my 19 year old granddaughter goes nowhere without her laptop.
I am afraid computers are here to stay. Grandfathers will just fade away.
Enjoy Luke now. They grow up so very quickly.

My granddaughter is the same. Was using the computer at four to play "Webkinz" online with my wife (who had to keep calling me asking me what to do next). I was trying to play one of the games with her last fall and she said "No, Grandpa, that's not the way you do it!" and proceeded to correct me. Trouble was, she was right!

You ought to try coffee.
