It's been such a hot and muggy season. There has been a break in the weather so I ventured out with my Maxxum yesterday to shoot the harbor and some ships. LOL...it was so cold and windy that I couldn't hold the camera steady enough to get many shots. I watched sea gulls hovering in the wind and not actually making any forward progress. After 5 shots I put it away. At least it ain't hot anymore! ;D

At 58°F in the house I was forced to capitulate and turn on the furnace this morning.

Yeah, we go right from air conditioning bills to heating bills, where is the justice? I still plan on going out in the camper before the year is over.

The weather here can't make up its mind either. This morning was really chilly, 54 degrees F with a clear sky, so we put the heating on for a couple of hours. Then it clouded over and got warmer, so we turned it off.
At the moment (8.40 in the evening) it's a very comfortable 72 degrees F in my den with no heating except that generated by my computer. You work it out!
Ron: That reminds me that last year when things got a bit tight we gave up trying to keep the wolf from the door ... we dragged the beggar in and spit-roasted it over the burning sofa. LOL ;D.

Peter. Sounds like your weather is almost identical to here.
There is a flock of about 50 barn swallows that nest under a bridge behind my office. They usually arrive in mid April (I try to log it) and depart -- probably for South America -- about the end of the third week in September. I wouldn't be surprised if they depart a few days earlier this year. They have disappeared this afternoon which may mean they have joined a composite flock of thousands of birds that forms and they all depart together.

Yeah, Bummer!
It's been over 90 degrees all summer and today we had a cold snap when it dropped off to 88.
Can't wait for the winter when I can burn some wood in the fireplace. We do get down to freezing occasionally in the winter but then it may get up in the 70's in the afternoon.
We hide in the house all summer and watch the water evaporate from the pool. From October thru April it's really nice.
