In about an hour's time clocks in the UK go back an hour at the end of British Summer Time (Daylight Saving) and we'll be back on GMT (not sure when the US clocks alter).
Something I've never figured out. If we've been saving daylight every summer for years ... who's got it all?

It's THEM, Peter. THEY're responsible. THEY're behind everything. Put two socks in the washing and only get one back? THEY've got it. It's always THEM.

Peter, our clocks go back at 0200 on 4 November. As for who has it all, it's probably all those people we refer to as "Sunshine". Walker

The only good thing about changing the clocks at this time of the year is the extra hour of sleep. (Which I probably won't get!) I think it's time to stop daylight savings time.

Nice response Sid !! Sorry Walker - that went straight overhead. Who (or what) is "Sunshine" ?? Regards - John John, I'm amazed! Why, I've heard Michael Caine call someone "Sunshine" many times. Also Vinny Jones and Jason Statham and even Bob Hoskins. Figured it had to an English thing. Heck, I've even heard that Scottsman who played an Englishman as 007 say it. Are you trying to take the mickey out of me? Walker

Here in Western Australia, the state government held a referendum a couple of years back, to let the people decide whether daylight saving should be introduced or not. This was the third such referendum in my lifetime, and as on the previous occasions, the majority voted against the introduction of daylight saving.
Last year, the government announced it wanted daylight saving, that the people got it wrong and so pushed through legislation to provide for a three year trial with a further referendum at the end of it.
Government, of the government, for the government, by the government!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm confused. I didn't think people meant government.
Ah heck. What does it matter really. I own about 140 cameras, a 4WD and a Moto Guzzi. I have a fridge full of film (and a Pentax K10D as well) and there is a real world out there that's worth spending time in. You don't find too many politicians out in the bush (except the ones with million dollar farms, that is) or up the coast.

Peter,
I think those "Mean" guys in Greenwich have all the Time and are not about to share it.

Or you can live where I do. Back in the 1880s the Union Pacific RR wanted its trains to be on the Mountain Standard Time all the way from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Huntington, Ore, even though geographically Huntington is about 150 miles inside the Pacific Time Zone. So Congress created a bulge in the Mountain Time Zone and it still exists today. The area when we live should be on Pacific Time--we're almost at the same latitude as San Diego. Everything North and south of us is Pacific Time, but we are 1 hour later on Mountain Time. In the summer, when you combine our situation with Daylight Savings Time, it doesn't get really dark here until 10:30 or 11 p.m.

Ah! Actually, that usage of the word is derogatory - the last thing you say before you hit them (or they hit you!).
Nearest I can think of is John Wayne saying "The hell you will - ...." LOL
