Tommy's wonderful Velvia shots have got me thiinking about slides again.
Trouble is, my old light box is in Australia (somewhere) and looking for a replacement, well, they're Bl**dy expensive, well over 3 times what I paid for my old one.
I have plenty of material, I just need some bulbs, housings and opaque perspex.
Here's the question:
I was going to go the route of two flourescent tubes and battens but on reflection, realized that the 'new' so-called eco bulbs (compact flourescents) might well do the trick. Battens from hardware stores all come ready fitted with useless (for my purpose) flourescents, meaning I have to buy extra, daylight balanced, tubes. Why not just buy 4 standard light fittings and Philips cool daylight 15W compact florescents to suit? This will work out slightly cheaper and I'm left with no junk tubes.
Waddya think? Will 4 cool daylight 15w compact flourescents be suitable for a desktop (800mm x 500mm) lightbox?
