Maybe the Minoltas are like the Pentax Spotmatics. They have what is called a "bridge circuit" which means they can use silver rather than mercury cells without modification. Wayne Wayne, I don't think the SRT has the bridge circuit; Praktica L-series has it though.

Nope, no bridge circuit.

I am designing a voltage stabilizer system which should end up as a little lump a bit smaller than a small pea, which can be put into the innards of a camera, delivering an electronically regulated constant 1.35V (or 2.70V) to an exposure meter made for mercury cells. This should give even greater metering consistency while using freely available silver cells. I wonder if the SR/SR T cameras (or for that matter, other such cameras) have the space inside for that.

You know, I have several minolta's but only 1 srt . it's the SRT-MC. My first was an XG-A followed by the XE-7 then came 2 X-700's then the XG-1. But lately I've been eyeing a srt 101 and so on and so on I just have to figure out how to sneek them into the house.
i love the simplicity of the SRT-MC and it takes great pictures but the XE-7 has to be my favorite at the moment, but there is just something about a nonelectric camera that pulls at the heartstrings. So I'm sure that I'll be getting more SRT's sooner than later.

I've got three. 1 SRT MCII and 2 SRT 202's. I enjoy all my cameras, but when I'm shooting something important (to me anyway ) I find myself reaching for one of the SRT's or my Spottie. All mechanical, very high quality, and heavy enough to bonk a mugger ;D! Roy

Yes, there is all kinds of room. Thank you Randy, much appreciated. Now I have to ask around and see if experts in other cameras of the same type!

Randy, I've been looking at those also, just can't seem to find one cheap enough at this time. My ambitions are to someday have one of everything minolta built up to the X-700 starting with the SR-2. Then of course there's the rangefinders.
