Hey there all, I wanted to ask about the light meter in the SRT 101. I just started working with the camera (my wife took it, and wrapped it up for my birthday which is today) so I never really got a chance to really give it a good going over. Anyway I noticed that the meter looks like it works opposite any other SLR camera that I have, or have used. The needle moves down when the light is bright, and up when it's dim. Is this normal, or is it messed up? The only other cameras I've seen that do this are my Canon Canonete QL17L and GIII rangefinders that have f/1.7 at the top of the scale, and f/16 on the bottom. Thanks, Edward.

Reiska Thanks for the reply. I have the manual for the SRT 101, but it doesn't really say anything about how the meter works that I could see.

Hi, The needle goes down when it gets brighter and you should turn the aperture ring or the shutter speed dial so that the meter needle and a moving follower with the ring on the end are converging. The meter needle responds the light and when the movable follower aligns with the meter needle the exposure is correct. Btw. The late birthday congratulations

Is this normal, or is it messed up? I'm surprised that the Minolta experts haven't replied to your query Edward. The meter in my SRT100X is the same as yours. The needle moves down for brighter and up for dimmer.

Reiska , Thanks for the late birthday wishes. Rachel, I know, I thought that Randy Jay would be on this like a bloodhound on fugitive's trail. ;D So the meters in Minolta's work opposite from most other cameras. Cool.
