Just lucked into a new to me FE at a local store. Put a new battery into her and all seems to work so we will shoot a roll of film tomorrow. It fills a small hole in my collection, that is not having an example of that model. I always liked the FM/FE series of Nikons and this one is no exception. Anyway just thought to let you know some places still have film cameras at times.

Bob, the FE is a nice camera and should please you. I have the FM too and prefer it over the FE but both are very nice.

At one time I had an FM and FE but the FE shutter was notorious for working great for days/weeks/months then suddenly failing to fire until I tried it on several manual shutter speeds. Probably just needed a good cleaning. From what I have seen seems like the FM3 is closer to being an FE than an FM as it has a needle in the viewfinder rather than LEDs. The FM/FE cameras are great for carrying around--especially with the f1.8 Nikkor.

I think that they are some of the best MF SLR film cameras ever produced by Nikon for ease of use and carrying. I have almost the complete set FE,FM,FE2 andFM2n with the FM3a being still too expensive. I did notice that this particular FE has a higher pitch twang when the shutter is released than the other FE/FM cameras that I have. Sure is satisfying to use.
