My brother and I share the same hobby/passion/obesession/mental illness that is photography/camera collecting. Alex wanted to buy a beater Nikon F preferably with an earlier serial number for just lugging around, so he orders one off a well known camera broker.
I get this phone call yesterday morning the camera arrived at his office via FED EX. I think the only time I have heard Alex happier was the birth of his son and daughter. It turns out said camera broker did not know they had a piece of history on their hands and shipped him the the 31st Nikon F ever made. Yes you read right, 64000031 complete with working cloth shutter. Alas it was not original, it had the early photomic head working of course (not the eye level prism) and it was bang on for exposure readings.
From what I gather only three other of the first run of 100 camera with the cloth shutter have surfaced.
I am happy for Alex because, I will get to see the camera and maybe play with it a bit.

Bill, your brother is indeed a lucky soul...... and I'm happy for him just as I know you are. It's always nice to see something rare and unusual land on the steps of an ordinary guy who just had fortune smile on him.
Post some pictures of it when you have a chance, please.
