Just got myself an SV (H3v in US?) from ebay. It's in "well used" condition but has cleaned up quite nicely and the shutter and transport seem to be working OK.
Can't work out if there's any light sealing in the deep grooves that the back fits into and the back "gives" slightly at the back catch end when closed. Has anyone else a similar model and can tell me if this is normal?
BTW, the clip-on accessory shoe I asked about in another thread fits perfectly.

Rachel, I'm at work and unable to check my own SV but ALL Pentax cameras of that era had light seals in the channels AFAIK. The back shouldn't "give" anywhere and should have a solid feel to it.

Thanks Walker. Looks as if I might need to do some work on this then. Could be that the original seals are compressed or just not there The only obvious seal that I can see is on the body at the hinge end. Is it a foam or cord type seal in the channels?

Rachel, Pentax used foam - also check the end of the back where it latches to the body. Some cameras have seals there - but I see no reason that cord wouldn't work. The East Germans used cord and it seems to have held up quite well. Just don't cover the small lever that allows the counter to reset when the back is open. (But you likely already know that!) Walker

Here is the Pentax SV that I bought recently on e(vil)Bay It is not as in nice a condition as i would have hoped but the accessory shoe hides some of the little dints in the pentaprism and it's cleaned up quite nicely. I do need to fit/replace the seals before trying it out. I also notice that somebody has replaced the delayed shutter release dial in the wrong position but that looks easy enough to rectify.
