Bob's experience with the F3 reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask.
Why is it that Canon SLRs that have a small 6v tubular battery inside a door on the front of the camera never seem to get dirty battery contacts whereas cameras that take button cells - including Canon compacts with CdS metering - quite often do?
Is it something endemic with button cells?

Peter,
I have 11 different Canon SLR's none of which "have a small 6v tubular battery inside a door on the front of the camera".
Where should I be looking?

Sounds like an A-1 to me.

Ahaaaa. Yessir. The A1 and the AE 1 both have it. I thought those vertical ribs were to facilitate gripping the cameras. Indeed, the A1's is hidden under a removable textured grip. I don't have manuals for either camera so perhaps my ignorance is excusable. Thank you.
