Does anyone know what type of silver oxide battery might fit this camera and whether the metering would be accurate if it does?

The Spotmatics has a resistor & I believe any silver battery that will fit will work correctly.

Thanks Craig, Unless someone knows what will fit, I will try and measure the space and see what comes out of it. Phil

Does anyone know what type of silver oxide battery might fit this camera and whether the metering would be accurate if it does? The Spotmatic uses a bridge circuit so voltage isn't critical for accurate metering. IF you still have the original battery with it's nylon washer/collar, you can replace the battery with a size 392 silver oxide, using the nylon washer to hold it. Alternately, you can go here to buy the correct S400PX battery and then use a 392 replacement when necessary. Put "400" in the search block and you'll quickly find it. www.mdbattery.com/index.php?cPath=134If you don't have the original battery and need something to work while you order or find the proper battery, you can use a size 675 hearing aid battery. Remove the sticker to activate the zinc-ozide and drop it in. It should work without a washer or spacer. It'll last a couple of months. Walker

Bridge circuit. That's the work I was thinking of.

It is great that someone here always has the answer. The Pentax manual of course only mentions the old mercury batteries. Although I still have a few left ( 625's) they are all much too big for the Pentax. If it works, I will donate it to the local high school for their photography classes. Regards, Phil
