Thanks Ron, it was a long time coming. I just got a Black SRT-201 a few weeks ago, but it's not as clean as these.

Totally cool Randy. If I EVER get a bit of time lately I've been meaning to shoot a few pictures of my cameras, but there only seem to be 24 hours in a day and 26 worth of jobs to get done.

Pretty cameras. Minolta is the one mainstream slr camera I have absolutely no background with. No particular reason. I don't think I've ever even held one.

Sorry, Randy...but I can. I have one Minolta in my collection, an X7A with a very nice 50mm Minolta MD f/1.7 lens, a 135mm f/2.8 Minolta MC Tele Rokkor, and a motor drive (I used it to take pictures at soccer games). But as nice as it is, it's the only one in my collection. I've had it about 12 years. ----- I have to modify that statement...I was shooting high school soccer finals with the Minolta X7A in 1990...so it's been in the collection for 16 years! I guess I didn't realize how much fun I must be having, for time to fly by so quickly!!

Randy,
Love those black Minoltas. I had a black 102 but let some guy from Canada talk me out of it.
Still kicking myself.
I have three X-Series Minoltas in black. XE-7, XK & X-700
I want a black XD-11

OK...now a question on a subject I have seen even debated in the mags. But let's give it a try here. Why do the pros choose black bodies? ? Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI

Ron,
Supposed to be unobtrusive.
Mickey
P.S. Almost all cameras used to be black. Does anyone know which was the first chrome camera?

OK...now a question on a subject I have seen even debated in the mags. But let's give it a try here. Why do the pros choose black bodies? ? Ron Head Kalamazoo, MI Leica's first cameras were black but back in the '30s everyone went to chrome or nickle plating. It wasn't until the '60s that black came back. I think the theory was that black cameras were less obtrusive -- made the user look like a real Pro. For a while just about everything was black. Don't think you could get a Nikon F3 in any color but black -- except the titanium model. I actually prefer the chome models--more durable--in my opinion. Some folks like the black because it shows the scars of use. I would rather have mine look like new even if I use 'em a lot.

It was my understanding that street photographers used to put black tape on their cameras to make them unabtrusive for candid shots.
Other photographers and wantabees then wanted their cameras black so they could look professional.
My preference is a black body camera because I like the look.
