Bill, thanks. It is perhaps one of those questions for which the answer gets lost in time. It sounds as though it could be a bit like Dave Allen's missing finger.
(Dave Allen was a brilliant comedian from Ireland who had a wonderful take on the Catholic Church and life in general. He had lost a finger in an accident, but whenever he was asked how it happened he would give a different answer. No one knows for sure which version is true.)
Dave.

Hi there. This thread is long in the tooth, however helpful. I Was looking for Cosina rebrands and stumbled upon this board. It seems I hit the mother lode. I will harvest the data to update camdex.ca and the Cosina page on cameracollector.net. It is odd, but I have not heard about this board till now, although it is named the same as my site. Best to all, and stay safe. Post script: Checked the list, regrettably not all entries are correct. Hope to find the time to fully review and add my notes.

I just ascertained that the Werra 3 listing omitted the interchangeable lenses. I also tested the indexing at camdex, Surprisingly the rare Ponticac lynx II was listed, but not the slightly older Derlux from anotheer maker, but I should have looked under Gallus.

further to this thread rather than its digressions; I just looked through and did not find any reference to the Chinon camera that Pignons in Switxerland marketed as an alpa when they were in economic difficulties and needed something showy. They also markeded a number of Chinon lenses labelled Alpa. when their normal Angenieux , Kinoptik and Schneider lenses became too expensive. Some unsubstantiated net rumours have connected the lens designs with the Tomioka factory that Yashica bought.
